1. Connector-Level Sealing:

  • We use IP-rated connectors (e.g., IP67, IP68, IP69K) as the first line of defense. These feature integrated silicone or rubber gaskets, sealing plugs, and sealing rings that create a tight seal at the connector interface and between the pin/socket and housing.

  • For standard connectors (like some JST types), we apply sealed versions or add environmental protection caps and boots.

2. Wire & Cable Entry Sealing:

  • Molded Overmolding: This is our most robust solution. A thermoplastic or thermoset material (like polyurethane or PVC) is injection-molded directly onto the connector-cable junction, forming a permanent, strain-relieved, and completely sealed unit.

  • Heat-Shrink Tubing with Adhesive Liner: Applied at cable entry points, the tubing shrinks to form a tight fit, and the internal adhesive melts to create a waterproof seal around wires and the connector backshell.

3. Individual Wire Sealing:

  • For cables themselves, we select jacket materials with inherent moisture resistance (e.g., specific PVC blends, polyurethane, TPE).

  • Internal gaps between conductors can be filled with water-blocking gels or tapes to prevent moisture migration along the wire length.

4. Additional Protective Processes:

  • Potting: For electronic modules within a harness, we encapsulate the assembly in a resin compound, protecting against water, vibration, and corrosion.

  • Conformal Coating: A thin protective polymer film can be applied to PCBAs within a harness for moisture and contaminant resistance.
